60-year-old the Macallan Valerio Adami 1926, was auctioned for whopping $1.1 million (around Rs 8.1 crore) in Edinburgh, making it the world’s most expensive whisky ever sold in an auction.

Called the “Roll Royce of malts”, the whisky was bought by an Asian collector who took part in the bid for this ‘most-valuable whisky’ over the phone, the auctioneer Bonhams said. Bonhams is one of the world’s largest and most renowned auctioneers, offering fine art and antiques, motor cars and jewellery.

The world’s “most expensive” pair of shoes has been launched in the UAE and it’s worth Rs 123 crore (USD 17 million).The luxury footwear was designed and created by UAE-based brand Jada Dubai in collaboration with Passion Jewellers over a period of nine months.The lavish Passion Diamond Shoes are made from real gold and silk and are studded with 236 real diamonds. The lavish heels also feature a round and flawless D-diamond centerpiece of 15-carat weight.

Andhra Pradesh Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi, Vizianagaram, AP State, India (It’s represented by Dr.D.Parinaidu, Convener) set / created a New World Record by the way of unveiling more than 500 Statues (In first phase) of India’s Father of the Nation- Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi)) in a single day (25th September, 2018), at the same time (in a single revenue district) on the eve of the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi.

The organisation is planning to unveiling total 3,000 statues by the end of 150th birth celebrations (2nd October,2020).

They organised attiring of Gandhi dress (dress code) show of school children (vesha dhaarana) and also conducted essay writing-elocution-Quiz competitions for Primary-High School-College Students at the same time.

World record with number of Solar LED lamps

5,700 students light solar lamps together at IIT-Bombay, set a new World record.
The feat was achieved by students gathered at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, under its flagship Solar Urja Lamp (SoUL) project. The institute marked the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a massive workshop on solar energy.
Over 5,000 students from 120 schools in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region entered World Records on October-2nd-2018 for lighting the most number of solar LED lamps simultaneously.
The feat was achieved by students gathered at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, under its flagship Solar Urja Lamp (SoUL) project.
The institute, which is celebrating its diamond jubilee year, marked the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a massive workshop on solar energy. Over 1.25 lakh students from 850 schools across the country participated in the ‘Solar Student Ambassador’ workshop where they learnt to build a solar LED lamp.
The previous record was set in 2016 when 1,590 participants were successful at achieving the record.
